Weather control The ability to affect localized weather patterns through sheer force of will; Ororo has used this ability to summon any change to the weather within a certain distance, including direction of certain elements (lightning, tornadoes) to be used as specific attack mechanisms.
As one of the field leaders of the X-Men, Ororo must remain in control of the situation, herself and her abilities at all times. Although the mutant ability to control the weather may appear passive at first, Ororo's power actually provides a great offense against which many would be hard-pressed to stand. The fury of lightning, the destructive path of a tornado, the deep freeze of a snowstorm -- all are within her range. Man has waged an ongoing battle against the elements of the earth itself throughout history, and with the full force of the planet's weather systems at her command, Ororo can be a dangerous enemy. Although her command of the weather appears to be localized to her, the full extent of the physical range she can reach to control is not known; however, she can clearly shift the weather changes she is effecting with her as she moves (as evidenced by the continuous tornadoes appearing as she flew the Blackbird over a distance). Ororo often appears calm and in control when using her powers; although she sometimes appears to physically steady herself to summon lightning, she can also exert her abilities while simultaneously piloting a jet, done with little to no obvious physical exertion.
Ororo is also capable of floating or flying on air currents that she summons, even within closed interior spaces. She has a natural immunity to extreme temperature conditions because of her innate command of the weather. It may be that she subconsciously affects her own body temperature to account for external temperatures.
