   SUBJECT: Ororo Munroe
Ororo Munroe works as an instructor at the Xavier School for Gifted Children, where it appears she handles a large number of teaching duties. Specifically, Ororo has taught history classes, but in her overall capacity at the school, she is a protective leader, watching over all of the students with a compassionate eye. Ororo also works as a field leader for the X-Men, second in command to Cyclops, and is an excellent navigator. She thinks and expresses herself clearly, seemingly always in command of herself and the situation. Despite her mixed feelings on a "normal" society that shuns mutantkind, she has proven herself to put Xavier's fight for equality before her reservations.

In X-Men, we find Ororo first accompanying Cyclops in a field mission in Alaska, using her powers to control the weather to turn the tables in an attempt to rescue Rogue and Wolverine from Sabretooth. At the school, Storm's commanding demeanor is evident in her control of a class of students; but she is warm and caring with shy outcast Marie. She serves as Xavier's right-hand woman, always on hand to lend support; she argues against Logan's quick temper, hoping to show him that their fight for mutant rights is worthwhile. She provides comfort in the dark for an ailing Senator Kelly, and after his death, joins the team as they head to Liberty Island to stop Magneto from unknowingly sending an island of politicians to share Kelly's fate. There, Storm faces off against the Toad, casually summoning lightning to strike him down, and uses her command of the winds to help float Logan to the top of the statue to fight Magneto.

X2: X-Men United picks up six months after the events at Liberty Island, and Ororo is still the caring, guiding teacher at the school. She is cautious of how the mutant students interact with the outside world; after the events surrounding Magneto months ago, she is wary of the government's seemingly itchy trigger finger regarding mutant registration. With Jean, she ventures to Boston to track a teleporting mutant who attempted to assassinate the president. The mutant, Nightcrawler, has a deeply rooted sense of faith, and challenges Ororo on why she lets her emotional reaction towards humans steer her. Ororo remains steady, but seems to take some sort of guidance away from the encounter. However, in her attempts to protect herself and her friends, she summons nearly two dozen tornadoes, to thwart the attempts of fighter jets to track the Blackbird. The action is indicative of a strong power base on Ororo's part, one which is drawn upon almost effortlessly. The X-Men track a kidnapped Xavier to an abandoned base at Alakali Lake; Xavier is captive inside a mock version of Cerebro, through which he is being instructed to find and destroy all mutants. Relying on Nightcrawler, Ororo makes her way inside of Cerebro and unleashes the fury of an ice storm against the illusion-creating mutant who has the Professor in his thrall. Shocked out of the illusion by the cold, the Professor recognizes Ororo as a guide post and comes to his senses. The X-Men are able to get out, but not before Jean Grey sacrifices herself to help them escape. Ororo watches in sorrow as her friend disappears, and pilots the X-Jet home.
